Pokémon Crown Tundra Legendaries Can Only Be Caught In VERY Specific Ways

Pokémon’s Crown Tundra DLC brings back a lot of previous Legendary Pokémon, but players must complete very specific actions to trigger the encounters.

Players are having a difficult time finding every legendary Pokémon in Pokémon: Sword & Shield’s Crown Tundra DLC, and that is because some of the DLC Legendaries can only be found by performing very specific actions. Trainers haven’t had difficulties like this in several generations of Pokémon as dataminers usually spoil the fun of locating Legendary Pokémon before the game’s release.

The lackluster Legendary encounters can also be attributed to GameFreak’s own boring game design. While it is no fun to have Legendary Pokémon spoiled by the internet, Pokémon games haven’t made Legendary encounters interesting in several generations and often times make post-game Legendary encounters as simple as locating a sprite in the wild. Dataminers may have uncovered all of the Legendary Pokémon that can be found in the Crown Tundra, but they aren’t able to discover where some Legendaries are hidden.

Some Legendaries such as the Regis or the Swords of Justice are part of the Crown Tundra’s storyline, but that doesn’t mean they are any easier to find. Players must solve specific riddles to unlock temples or collect clues around the Crown Tundra to locate these Pokémon. However, there are some special Legendary encounters that are even harder to find due to the obscure tasks players must complete in order to trigger them. Notable Pokémon leaker CentroLeaks has made several posts on Twitter documenting these strange encounter methods. While multiple Legendaries have been found, there are still some that players haven’t found yet.

Keldeo, Regigigas, and Spiritomb are three of the Legendary Pokémon that players have discovered the method of encountering. Keldeo and Regigigas require players to complete part of the Crown Tundra’s storyline and capture certain Legendaries before they can be encountered. Spiritomb requires players to talk to a grave and then 30 to 50 players in the Crown Tundra before he appears back at the gravesite. The most puzzling Pokémon in the Crown Tundra DLC is the mythical Victini which players were able to find in the game’s files but still haven’t figured out what steps are necessary to trigger its encounter.

These hidden encounters are reminiscent of Pokémon Gen 3 and 4 Legendaries. While internet forums and dataminers may have spoiled which Legendaries are available in the Crown Tundra, the Pokémon community is having to work together to find them. There may not be brail to decipher, but the steps necessary to obtain every Legendary in Pokémon: Sword & Shield are weirdly specific and are causing the community to come together in a way that hasn’t happened in many generations of Pokémon.
