Two of WWE’s top NXT stars dressed as characters from Tim Burton’s Halloween/Christmas classic Nightmare Before Christmas for NXT Halloween Havoc.
WWE’s NXT stars dressed as characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas to promote the Halloween Havoc event. Much like WWE did in July with NXT Great American Bash, last night, the company once again brought back a famous WCW (the once bitter rivals of WWE) pay-per-view name for NXT. This time, appropriately, it was NXT Halloween Havoc, and two of the headlining matches featured real-life husband and wife Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. Gargano has been known to indulge his Disney/comic book fandom, having previously worn Captain Marvel-inspired gear at NXT TakeOver XXV. So keeping in line with the Halloween theme and Gargano’s history of unique wrestling attire, the couple took some inspiration from Tim Burton’s Halloween/Christmas classic Nightmare Before Christmas.
Before NXT’s show last night, Gargano tweeted a photo of him and LeRae in their wrestling gear for Halloween Havoc. The couple’s gear had them dressed as Nightmare Before Christmas’s famous couple Jack Skellington and Sally, as Gargano’s top represents Skellinton’s suit with the unique bat bow tie and all. Le Rae’s gear takes inspiration from Sally’s multicolored dress, with the noticeable yellow, purple, and blue on her gear. The full image can be seen in the Tweet below:
There was no shortage of costumes last night, as there was also someone dressed as Ghostface from Scream, but Gargano and LeRae’s was one of the more creative approaches. But fans wouldn’t expect anything less from the couple that got married at Disneyland. Unfortunately for LeRae, unlike in the film Nightmare Before Christmas, where Sally has a vision that Jack Skellinton’s attempt at taking over Christmas will end in disaster, Gargano ended up winning the North American Championship while LeRae fell short in her attempt at winning the Women’s Championship.
It seems like many WWE superstars have been getting into the spirit of dressing up as Roman Reigns also wore a glove that resembled Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet this past Sunday. WWE superstars have had a history of inserting pop culture into their gear, and if WWE makes NXT Halloween Havoc a yearly tradition, we may see more The Nightmare Before Christmas themed gear.
