With gamers eager to get their hands on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, developer Activision reveals pre-loading times for each platform.
Activision has revealed the pre-load times for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on current and next-gen consoles, and on PC. The upcoming title is the latest game in the highly popular and long-running first-person shooter franchise, which began back in 2003. Black Ops Cold War will also be the sixth installment in the Black Ops sub-series, which features an interconnected plot within the larger Call of Duty franchise.
The Call of Duty franchise has received annual new releases for the past several years, so gamers have a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming title. However, Black Ops Cold War promises to deliver a large amount of content that is both recognizable and fresh. A look at Black Ops Cold War‘s campaign missions demonstrates a healthy mixture of homage and innovation, with classic first-person shooting as well as more novel gameplay. One mission features a rooftop chase and an intense shootout, while another takes the form of an undercover stealth assignment. The Call of Duty series’ beloved Zombies mode is also set to return in full force, with new weapons and tactics to provide some new gameplay options.

Activision has now revealed when players can begin pre-loading Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Those who have pre-ordered the game will be able to begin pre-loading the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at 9 pm Pacific Time on November 5. Pre-loading on PC, meanwhile, will begin at 10 am Pacific Time on November 10. Pre-loading on next-generation consoles will also be available as the consoles launch, November 10 for the Xbox Series X/S and November 12 for the PlayStation 5.
The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will also signal additional content for the free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone. The multiplayer-only installment in the series, which launched last year alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, will begin receiving content related to Black Ops Cold War in December. This will ensure that the overarching Call of Duty experience continues to evolve in a singular direction. However, it has been confirmed that Warzone will not be switching over to Black Ops Cold War‘s game engine.
The Call of Duty series is hugely successful, and it continues to draw the attention of gamers around the world. Preparing players for a pre-load of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a smart move on Activision’s part, as it will ensure that the game’s launch is as huge and successful as possible. The opportunity for pre-loading may even boost pre-orders of the game by those who wish to avoid a lengthy install on launch day.
