Xbox Reveals Launch Celebration Stream, New Accessories, and More

The team at Xbox has revealed there will be a launch celebration stream when the Xbox Series X releases, as well as new accessories for the console.

Team Xbox has revealed a launch celebration stream that will debut when the Xbox Series X releases on Tuesday, as well as new accessories and more. The next-generation console has a plethora of new features and equipment launching alongside it in a few days, including the addition of Apple TV for the first time. Microsoft has gradually revealed enhancements to the next-generation console’s UI and other features, such as quick resume and smart delivery, bringing the anticipation to a climax with newer developments as the consoles’ launch approaches.

The subject of first-party exclusives has also been a major highlight for Xbox fans, as Xbox Game Studios has been increasing its focus on first-party content, with Microsoft purchasing many game developers in recent years. The latest acquisition by Microsoft is Bethesda, the company behind the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls franchises. While the majority of Xbox’s first-party launch titles have been delayed, including Halo Infinite, the team has still expressed its commitment to delivering more exclusive content.

With November 10th approaching, Xbox has revealed an Xbox Series X launch celebration stream that will go live at 2:00 PM EST on launch day. Moreover, two new accessories have been introduced for the system, the first of which is a giveaway for a Samsung QLED Cyberpunk 2077 limited edition TV packaged with an Xbox Series X and a copy of Cyberpunk 2077. The second accessory, however, is the PDP Gaming Media Remote, which includes a motion-activated backlight and “makes it easier to control media apps on [players’] console.” The remote is compatible with the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Players interested in the full reveal from Xbox can watch the video below.

In addition, Xbox offered a slightly more in-depth look at Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, focusing on the game’s raiding feature. Players will lead a band of Vikings in raids against “a strategic Saxon location” to gather resources to upgrade their settlement and unlock new buildings. Players will be able to watch a full Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gameplay presentation on the Xbox Series X by Xbox on Twitch later.

The industry is giddy with anticipation at the release of the next-generation consoles. Xbox has made great efforts to rebrand itself over the last couple of years, revamping its image and getting back to its roots of appealing specifically to gamers. The Xbox One’s launch was a marketing disaster, focusing more on general media entertainment as opposed to gaming specifically. Furthermore, the default inclusion of the Kinect with the system – thus driving up the console’s launch price – turned a lot of players off to the idea of purchasing the system.

However, Microsoft appears to have learned its lesson from that catastrophe, realizing a video game system should primarily be just that. With the increased focus on Xbox Game Pass, ensuring Xbox One accessories – such as the Elite Controller Version 2 – are compatible with the Xbox Series X|S, and expansion of first-party content, Xbox is setting itself up to be in a phenomenal position not only with the upcoming generation but even the generation coming after. While the new media remote and the QLED TV giveaway, as well as the launch celebration stream, are all intriguing prospects, time is what will determine whether Xbox has successfully clawed its way out of the hole into which it dug itself with the original Xbox One.
