Deadline revealed that Bacon has joined the cast as the protagonist’s father. Of Bacon’s casting, Baird praised the iconic actor’s career, saying:

“I’m really excited to work with Kevin. He was already a major star when he really caught my eye as Willie O’Keefe in Oliver Stone’s JFK. To me he showed a new, raw and very powerful side. His turn in The Woodsman should have won him an Oscar and I love his work in his new show City on a Hill. Kevin and I have had great discussions about his role and he will be bringing all of this edge and power and his darker side to Fred Sr. in One Way where he plays the father to Freddy. It’s going to be wild ride and an iconic turn!”

Bacon’s big breakout role was in 1984’s Footloose, and the actor’s career is one of the more prolific in Hollywood. As Baird notes, he’s had roles in everything from classics like JFK to current shows like City on a Hill. He’s even stepped into the world of comic book movies with a stellar turn as Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class. Given his range, it’s easy to imagine him tackling a challenging role like the father of a criminal, and his performance will surely be exciting to watch.
