Andy Cohen thinks Vanderpump Rules will have ‘real drama’ now that Stassi and Kristen are gone. Actual SUR employees are set to return in season 9.

Now that Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute have been fired from Vanderpump Rules, fans can expect to watch “real drama” among the SUR employees. Bravo host Andy Cohen spoke about what’s to come in season nine, and he’s excited for viewers to get back to watching actual staffers at Lisa Vanderpump’s WeHo restaurant.

Back in June Vanderpump Rules was rocked by the unexpected cast firings of four cast members. Stassi and Kristen were terminated by Bravo for their part in orchestrating a false arrest on former cast member Faith Stowers. Faith revealed during an interview on Instagram Live, that the two Bravolebrities called the cops on her and accused her of a crime she didn’t commit. The only thing Faith had in common with the actual culprit was that she was a Black woman. With the details being unearthed right at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, the network moved swiftly in removing Stassi, Kristen, and newcomers Max Boyens and Brett Caprione for their past racist tweets.

Now, that season nine has been confirmed, Andy Cohen is dishing on what fans can expect from the returning and new cast members. He also shared why he feels the show will be better now that Stassi and Kristen are gone. “Frankly, Stassi and Kristen didn’t work there anymore,” Andy declared while on the November 5 episode of Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino. Though he acknowledged that the two terminated pumpers were “brilliant characters on television,” he touched on how the cast will have a “better time” getting back to the original storyline of the show.

“It will be interesting to see who’s there and who’s not and what’s really happening,” the Watch What Happens  Live host explained. “I think they’ll have a better time doing that and they’ll be a lot of built-in stuff that’s actually happening.” With the show going back to its roots and following the drama of Lisa Vanderpump’s staff at SUR, Andy predicted the real tension viewers will get a chance to see play out. “I think they’re going to have real drama built into her reopening this restaurant after a pandemic,” he said. “So I actually think in an odd way that’s going to create a lot of story that is absolutely real, and they’ll be able to lean into it.”

Over the summer, fans and the cast were unsure if the show would return after the firings. In addition, all of Lisa’s restaurants were forced to close due to the pandemic. But, with certain restrictions lifting, SUR is back in business and the cameras are rolling.
