The Crown season 4 debuts a young Diana Spencer played by Emma Corrin. Here’s where else you can watch the up and coming British actress.
Emma Corrin plays Lady Diana Spencer in The Crown season 4, and fans can find her in a handful of other shows and movies. Among the handful of new characters in The Crown season 4 is Princess Diana, as the show begins to chronicle her doomed marriage with Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor).
The Crown season 3 covered Queen Elizabeth II’s reign from 1964 to 1977, with the show debuting older versions of the characters such as Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret. But, as the story progresses, the focus starts to shift to the next generation of royals, primarily Charles considering he’s the heir to the throne. It ended with Charles going back and forth with his romantic feelings for Camilla Shand (Emerald Fennell).

This leads to the king-in-waiting starting a whirlwind romance with Diana Spencer with The Crown season 4, tackling the early years of their relationship. Corrin is already making waves for her portrayal of the Princess of Wales, and for those who want to know the actress more, here’s a list of projects she’s appeared in before the Netflix series.
Corrin’s highest-profile role before The Crown is on Pennyworth where she played the Esme Winikus – an upper-class dancer at a downtown club who meets and starts a relationship with Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon). She first appeared in the show’s pilot in 2019 and had a recurring role throughout season 1.
2020’s British comedy-drama Misbehavior featured Corrin as Jillian Jessup – Miss South America. Directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, the film is about the newly-formed women’s liberation movement hijacking the 1970 Miss World Competition. Corrin’s role in the movie was small, but it was a great project to be a part of given its star-studded cast that includes Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Greg Kinnear, among others.
The Crown isn’t Corrin’s first foray into period dramas as the actress also had a one-time role on ITV’s Grantchester. Set in the 1950s Cambridgeshire village of the same name, the show featured a pair of Anglican vicars partnering up with a detective solving crimes. Corrin appeared in season 4, episode 4 where she played Esther Carter; the outing aired in 2019.
Back in 2017, Corrin starred in a 40-minute digital film titled Cesare where she played a character named Mica. Directed and written by Louis Rogers, the project also stars Dolores Carbonari and Os Leanse. The short movie is described to be “about food and family, about knowing places and knowing yourself, about places that know you better than you do.” It was part of the selection for the Three Wheel Drive Festival in the same year.
With critics praising Corrin’s portrayal of young Diana Spencer in The Crown season 4, it’s safe to assume that her stint in the show will open more opportunities for her moving forward. So while she currently has a short portfolio, that’s all set to change.
