New Bachelorette Tayshia Adams says she didn’t bother to research her potential suitors before beginning her stint on the reality show.
New The Bachelorette star Tayshia Adams reveals she didn’t research her suitors before filming. For those who missed the previous drama, original Bachelorette Clare Crawley was replaced by Adams early into season 16 after Crawley accepted a proposal from contestant Dale Moss. In August, Adams arrived in Palm Springs to meet Clare’s former suitors. This came after Crawley was swept off her feet by Moss just two weeks into filming.
Adams herself appeared as a contestant on season 23 of The Bachelor and made her debut on The Bachelorette on November 5. The switch up was a big deal for the franchise, which has already seen its fair share of shocking moves. Luckily, fans are responding well to Adams.

That all being said, the new star insisted in a recent interview with Us Weekly she did not cyberstalk any of her potential suitors before coming onto the show to replace Crawley. Because the turnaround and re-casting happened so quickly, Adams said she never got a chance:
When I was in quarantine, I didn’t think that this phone call was ever going to come. … I did look at the guys once they were first announced for Clare, but that was, like, months and months ago. I didn’t really have the chance to look at them before. And I’m glad I didn’t, to be honest.
However, that doesn’t mean Adams was disappointed by the group upon her arrival, saying she “couldn’t have asked for, like, a better group of men,” Adams admitted, though, that she had her doubts coming into the show, as the remaining contestants were originally selected specifically for Crawley. She said, “I didn’t know if they were going to be accepting or if they were willing to open their hearts.“ Luckily, Adams received reassurance from the men as soon as she arrived. The new Bachelorette was told by all of the contestants vying for her heart they were “happy and excited” for her to be there, which helped calm her nerves.
It must be hard to resist looking up potential suitors as ABC’s next Bachelor or Bachelorette. It was likely especially difficult for Adams, knowing so much information about the contestants already existed online. Having even an inkling of an idea of who will be vying for the Final Rose can make a difference, but also takes away some of the intrigue. Adams may be the rare exception to most Bachelorette stars, as quite a few must do some digging before agreeing to be the reality show’s next leading lady. However, it seems it worked out fine for Adams, as she’s revealed she said “I love you” to multiple men on the show. Fans will have to keep watching this season of The Bachelorette to see who she chooses in the end.
