A lot of Genshin Impact fans are annoyed with the talkative sidekick in the game, but does a feature to mute Paimon actually exist already?
The colorful cast of characters in Genshin Impact is one of the many reasons fans love the game so much. With over two dozen playable characters in the game already, and more on the way, players can choose which characters they want to invest in – and which ones they want to ignore. Unfortunately, no matter which characters make up a player’s party in Genshin Impact, Paimon will always be the talkative, loyal sidekick that can’t be ignored.
Depending on which fans are asked, Paimon is either the best character in Genshin Impact – or the worst. Many fans seem to lean toward the latter, with people on multiple forums discussing all the ways to avoid listening to her. According to those players, Paimon is a pest, an overly talkative Navi from Ocarina of Time who just doesn’t know when to shut up. Because of this, lots of fans are asking for a “Mute Paimon” feature in the game.

For now, a way to mute Paimon in Genshin Impact completely doesn’t actually exist. It’s more like wishful thinking, as fans have speculated the various ways developer miHoYo could implement the feature in a future update. Some fans have said switching the voice acting to Japanese makes Paimon less annoying, while others simply turn down the volume in Genshin Impact and read the game’s subtitles. That’s fine in the interim, but a Mute Paimon feature would still be really nice.
Why Genshin Impact Needs A Mute Paimon Feature
Turning down the volume in the game in order to avoid listening to pesky Paimon is fine, but it means missing out on Genshin Impact‘s score. The music is one of the greatest parts of Genshin Impact, and it brings the open-world to life. Thankfully, most Paimon dialogue can be skipped over in cutscenes, but it doesn’t stop her from chirping in during exploration. Since so many people are annoyed by Paimon, it makes sense to just introduce a feature that would allow players to mute her if they wanted, or at least reduce the frequency of her interruptions,
Disabling hints in-game isn’t a new concept, and Genshin Impact’s Paimon is basically just a really long and obnoxious in-game hint system. She tells players where to go next, explains how things work, and elaborates on lore and the finer points of Genshin Impact‘s plot. All of this could be done with pop-up windows in the game, instead of having Paimon constantly explaining it.
For now, a “Mute Paimon” feature in Genshin Impact is just a dream. miHoYo seems to listen to its fans fairly well, which means if enough people keep asking for it (and they are), then the feature will hopefully be put into a future update of the game soon.
