Everything To Know About Jonathan Scott

From reality TV contractor to magician to Zooey Deschanel’s boyfriend, this guy’s got the world in his pocket. There might even be kids in his future.

Jonathan Silver Scott is one part of a Canadian twin brother duo who took HGTV, and the world, by storm. A reality TV contractor, star of HGTV’s Brother Vs. Brother, and Zooey Deschanel’s newest love, this man is so much more than a tool belt twin with a celebrity girlfriend! He is full of talent and self-awareness. Let’s take a closer look at the man who seemingly has it all.

Jonathan and his twin brother, Drew, grew up on a ranch in Canada and were competitive about absolutely everything. A life of playful sibling rivalry really paid off for these two, resulting in hit TV shows Property Brothers and Brother Vs. Brother, which brought fans seasons on seasons of twin brothers who just can’t ever win enough. But when the cameras go away, he’s still a fun-loving goofball with a lot of love to give. And most of all, he loves dogs. In fact, he doesn’t even trust people who don’t love dogs. His own two little monsters are named Stewie and Gracie. He’s also a massive dork who loves being dorky. He can sing and do magic. And not just like simple, lame magic tricks. He can pull his little chihuahua out of a hat and is even a member of the Academy of Magical Arts. He’s a man of many talents! But there’s something else about him that’s gaining massive attention. It’s not his abracadabra, and it’s not his TV shows. It’s his love life. Last fall, he began dating Zooey Deschanel, and together the two became America’s favorite new “couple goals” couple. We are completely obsessed.

After splitting from his long-time girlfriend Jacinta Kuznetsov back in 2018, Jonathan was ready and looking to start a family. In March of 2019 he gave an interview to People magazine claiming he would potentially adopt children on his own if the right person didn’t coming along. In August, Jonathan met Zooey Deschanel filming an episode of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. The Deschanel sisters were pitted against the Scott Brothers and joyous fun ensued. While filming, Jonathan and Zooey were flirty and jokey and later posted about each other on Instagram. At the time, there was one little, tiny catch: Zooey was still married to her husband, Jacob Pechenik. One week after her separation was announced in September 2019, Jonathan and Zooey were spotted holding hands. By Thanksgiving? They were in L O V E. They made it through the holidays, posting their love all over Instagram, and driving their fans wild with excitement. And when quarantine hit in March? The two got even cozier. Jonathan took to Insta to tell us all that he and Zooey “have been playing games, making music, and of course doing puzzles.” And in August 2020 they celebrated their one year anniversary of knowing each other.

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott Property Brothers

While Zooey is very publicly twice-divorced, it turns out Jonathan is also a divorcee. He and first wife Kelsey Ully had a brief marriage back in 2007, long before anyone knew the Scott Brothers. The couple met in 2007 and had an instant connection. As for why they got married so quickly? It turns out Kelsy wanted to get married on 07/07/07. It’s not terribly surprising that union didn’t last, but Jonathan does say that he learned an awful lot having been through the whole ordeal. He says he learned that “you can have two good people who are just not good for each other.” That’s some grownup talk if we’ve ever heard it.

So seems like Jonathan might be in a good place for a lasting romance. And it doesn’t hurt that his twin, Drew, who is married to longtime love, Linda Phan, is in full support of Jonathan & Zooey’s relationship. When it comes to love, seems these Brother Vs. Brother stars are more like brother in support of brother!
